Blua: better healthcare access for employees and customers

Healthcare is now increasingly connected, giving people more choice in how and when they access support. From speaking to a doctor without travelling to a clinic to taking part in health programmes from home, digital healthcare can make looking after your health easier to fit into everyday life.

Blua is Bupa’s approach to digital healthcare, designed to give customers convenient access to health services and professional support when they need it. Bringing together virtual appointments, digital health programmes and remote healthcare, Blua helps make care simpler, more personal and more accessible.

What is Blua?

Blua provides Bupa customers with access to a range of digital healthcare services. Depending on where you live and the services available through your plan, this can include virtual consultations with healthcare professionals, online health and wellbeing programmes and healthcare delivered or monitored remotely.

The aim is straightforward: to help you access appropriate care while giving you more flexibility over how healthcare fits into your day.

For eligible Bupa Global customers, Blua digital healthcare can be accessed through MembersWorld, allowing you to manage aspects of your health plan and access healthcare services from one convenient place.

Speak to a doctor virtually

Sometimes you need medical advice but visiting a clinic may not be convenient. Virtual healthcare can provide another way to get professional guidance.

Through Bupa Global’s Global Virtual Care service, eligible members can arrange consultations with a doctor by telephone or video. Appointments are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it easier to seek advice at a time that suits your schedule.

During a virtual consultation, doctors can provide medical guidance, self-care advice and recommendations for prescription or over-the-counter medicines. They can also help with referrals to specialists when appropriate. Subject to local regulations, prescriptions and referral letters may also be sent directly to your phone.

The service supports multiple languages for telephone consultations, helping make virtual healthcare accessible to customers around the world.

Get additional reassurance with a second medical opinion

Making decisions about your health can sometimes feel difficult, particularly when dealing with an unexpected diagnosis or considering an important treatment decision.

A second medical opinion can provide additional reassurance by arranging for independent medical experts to review your situation. This gives you another expert perspective on an existing diagnosis and can help ensure different options have been considered before you make decisions about your care.

Eligible customers can request a second medical opinion through MembersWorld, making expert guidance easier to access as part of their wider healthcare journey.

Take a proactive approach with digital health programmes

While traditional healthcare is about responding when something goes wrong, taking steps to manage your health and wellbeing over time is equally important.

Blua includes digital health programmes designed to support people in staying well or managing ongoing health needs. Bupa clinicians around the world deliver personalised programmes covering areas such as diabetes, weight management, mental health and addiction support.

Digital delivery can make ongoing support easier to incorporate into daily routines. It can also help clinicians provide more personalised, data-informed care, supporting customers as they work towards their individual health goals.

Bring healthcare into your home

Remote healthcare can reduce the need to travel to a hospital or clinic for some aspects of care. Depending on the service and location, Blua can support healthcare at home through health monitoring, medicines and equipment.

Remote monitoring can also help clinicians keep track of a person’s health between appointments. This may involve using digital tools or connected devices to record health information, such as blood pressure, blood glucose or heart rate, which can be shared securely with the care team. Greater visibility of changes can support ongoing care and help clinicians decide whether further follow-up may be needed.

In some locations, services can also include prescription delivery, helping customers avoid an additional trip to the pharmacy.

Manage your healthcare through MembersWorld

For eligible Bupa Global members, MembersWorld brings digital healthcare and health plan management together.

Alongside accessing Blua services such as virtual doctor appointments, members can use MembersWorld to submit and track claims, request pre-authorisation for treatment, view policy documents and benefit information, access digital membership cards and contact Bupa securely through online messaging.

Having these tools available digitally can simplify common healthcare administration tasks and make important information easier to access when you need it.

Booking a virtual consultation is also designed to be straightforward. Through the MembersWorld app, eligible members can choose the digital healthcare option, select their location and preferred language, choose an available appointment time and provide relevant details before confirming the consultation.

Healthcare designed around modern life

Digital healthcare offers more ways to access professional support without always relying on traditional, in-person appointments. Blua brings these options together to help Bupa customers access care in ways that can better fit their circumstances and routines.

Whether you want to speak to a doctor remotely, seek another expert's perspective, take part in a personalised health programme or manage aspects of your care from home, Blua provides tools and services to support different stages of your health journey.

Availability and specific Blua services vary by country, health plan and local regulations. Check the services and benefits available through your Bupa plan to understand which options you can access.
